Hiking

We had a busy together day.  Oliver and Mommy went to the Y in the morning to play and exercise, then we met someone special for lunch at our favorite coffee shop in downtown Carlsbad.  We met Aunt Jessica!  We have missed her, she is back from her honeymoon.  We love her!  Oliver was so excited to see her that he started to lick the table and the chair- he does that when he gets really excited about something.  We had a nice time with Jess.

After lunch, we went to the Elfin Forest Preserve to go hiking.  Oliver said he wanted to climb the mountain.  The trail is 1 ½ miles up- it’s called “The Way Up Trail.”  Mommy used to hike it a couple times a week when she was in college- she would bring some of her books and study up at the top.  We wanted to try to make it to the top today to see the reservoir- Mommy hasn’t seen it yet since they have filled it with water.  We didn’t make it though- Oliver made it a whole mile-round trip.  Pretty impressive for a 3 year old.  We will definitely keep practicing until he can “climb the mountain!”  (Mommy wants to start hiking a lot more…)

We had a nice day together.
Oliver stopped a lot to "work" on the trail.

He has his tongue out...ready to start licking the table and chair.
Lucky Oliver.

"The Mountain"
Mommy likes to take pictures of signs.
Cuteness.
The Trail
Oliver with a hiking stick a woman gave him at
the start of the trail.
Black Sage- Mommy loves how it smells.
Working on the hole- he said for the squirrels.
Working on Mommy's tires- we got our tires a little dirty today.
Cuteness again.
Oliver put his stick back- he is so good at sharing.
