Cub Scout Camping

Mommy met up with Oliver at the Lake Jennings campground in Lakeside, Saturday morning.  We spent the rest of the day and Sunday morning camping with Escondido Pack 659, including about 5 of our Tiger Cubs from Den 7.  We had a really nice time together.  Mommy is glad she can continue to help Oliver learn to be a part of a nice little community of fun, friendly people.

First thing when Mommy got there:

Boys found a scorpion.  Great!

Oliver put it on the rock so we could investigate
and Mommy could get some better pictures of it!

Our campsite:

Chosen by Oliver and his Daddy.  A little far from
our Den, a little isolating, but we made it work.

The tree was a good thing!

Fishing:

Mommy had to learn how to cast out for Oliver.
We got it!  Just no fish!

Maybe it was our bait?!

Games:

Fun games!

Oliver was the last of two boys in this game!

This was a fun game!

Pure Joy!

Pure joy when Mommy found this on the
hike back to camp!

Dessert

Mommy had an idea for the dessert competition.

Tiger cub parfaits!  The boys each made one.
We made a couple of extras for the outer scouts.

Dinner and making torch sticks.  Sigh.

Tigers!

Dessert judging!

Our parfaits won 2nd place!  The winners
were based on the loudness of the cheers.

Pack Show:

Skits!  Oliver was pretending to sleep.

Eric, our den leader was asking the boys about
their projects that were based on energy.  When he
asked Oliver what his project was...after he woke
him up....Oliver said, "Conservation of energy!"
Giggles!

Oliver received Scout of the Month for April!
Yay!

A bear visited the pack show for the Bear Cubs.
Mommy somehow got stuck in the middle of
the craziness and the bears snout hit her ear.
(She is still hurting.  Its hard to get out of the mess.)

Sleep and Morning:

We hung Oliver's Scout of the Month feathers
and beads from our tent to look at it first thing in the morning!

From the tent.

Lakeside.

Lake Jennings.

Den 7s Breakfast.

The recipe.

The scouts played while the moms chatted...

and the dads cooked!

So yummy!

Eric shared his knives with Oliver and the boys talked
about knife safety.  Mommy is thankful for this talk.

Knife safety is so important.

Our Flags and Awards:

El Capitan.

We fished and soaked up the sun before
we headed home.

Mommy is proud of her Cub Scout.
