Memorial Day Hike

We had a nice Memorial Day together!  We started our drive in the morning listening to Carrie Underwood sing the National Anthem on the country music station.  Oliver was very interested in the song and learning about the importance of our holiday today.

After Oliver spent some morning time with Grammie and Grandpa and Mommy had a Y break we went to the Batiquitos Lagoon for a hike.  Mommy knew Oliver was a little tired, but we decided to see how far we could hike.  Oliver was a little goofy at the beginning, so we just hiked a short bit to the shade trees and watched birds, fish, and butterflies!  Then we went back to the car and drove to the Visitor's center that Oliver loves!

Mommy took a ton of pictures:

We saw a nest in the Eucalyptus tree.

We think it is a Red Tailed Hawk!

Oliver spotted this lizard!

(Mommy wonders what it would be like to
take pictures with a more high-techish camera,
instead of just a point and shoot camera.  It was
fun taking pictures of the animals, but she feels
she could have gotten better ones of the Butterfly,
with a different camera.)

Roly Poly collecting!

The other side!  Running to the Visitor's Center!

He spent about 25 minutes looking at everything
and asking tons of questions!  He was super fired up!

Goofballs with an Egret!

Happy Memorial Day!
