Gingerbread Pirates

Oliver came home this morning!  Yippee!  We had a good day with our daycare friends.  While they were napping we read our new book, The Gingerbread Pirates.  It was a great story about the captain pirate getting away and rescue all of his pirate friends.  (He was able to save all the good, sweet ones.)

Later in the afternoon we made some gingerbread cookies.  We are really glad it is Friday.

Happy Friday!

Our book.  Oliver's licorice.
(The licorice is getting stale.  Someone better come eat it,
maybe the pirates?)

Captain Cookie.

(Captain Cookie is a good listener.)

We loved the story!

Captain Cookie had a toothpick in place of his missing leg.

Little Jim with his pirate ship on Christmas morning.

Oliver retelling the story to our friend later in the afternoon.

Can you spy our Captain?  We didn't have a toothpick.

Donut Wednesday

Yippie!  Donut Wednesday!  We are glad Peterson's Donut Shop is back from vacation!  As soon as we got out of our adventure Subaru we could smell the donuts.  We wish our camera had a button to capture the yummy smell for everyone!

Oliver is off with his Daddy after school!  See you Friday little donut eater!

Happy Wednesday!

They repaved part of the parking lot.  Fun!

They are almost done with construction!

There are long cement block picnic style tables.
And a wall to keep the donut eaters safe from people
who drive crazy through the parking lot.

Searching for the right one.
(Mommy already found hers.)

Yums.

They moved our poles, now they keep the
people standing in line safe!  Cutest kid ever!
He loves his camouflage pants.  He also likes
this song that we hear on the country music station!
(Of course, its by Mommy's favorite, Brad Paisley.)

Oliver's Donut.
(Mommy's donut hole.)

Yum, coffee.

Cuteness.

Opening the door for Mommy.  (We've been
working on getting over the cold thing, he really
needs to live up to his gentleman reputation.)  He
sure did this morning.  Thanks babe!

Bare Walls

When Mommy picked up Oliver today he wanted to show her around his classroom.  He usually finds some reason to take Mommy there, pickup is in another room...Mommy likes to see what is going on in his learning room!  But the walls were bare today!  Oliver said since the holidays were over the teachers were taking everything down.  He is kind of excited to see what goes up next!

He has also been excited lately about new words he hears Mommy say.  Oliver has a pretty strong vocabulary already.  Now, he keeps asking Mommy what certain words she says mean.  He likes that the word bare sounds like bear but means something different.  Someday Mommy will tell him they are homophones.  Its fun teaching him new words and listening to him use them.

Showing Mommy around.

Calendar area.

Showing Mommy the math bells with popcorn
used as manipulatives for counting.  (Yum, popcorn.)

Teaching Mommy about opposites.  He
is pretty good at them!

Here are some of his December Projects:

Santa

Stocking.

Candy Cane.

Christmas Tree.

Wreath.

Pizza!

Reindeer.  (Mommy likes this one the best.)

Beach Walk

Oliver came home today.  We were lazy around home and then we met Grandpa for a little walk on the beach and happy hour at Nortes in Carlsbad.  It was really nice.  Oliver's silliness in the sand and with the water was making us laugh.

Happy Monday!

Mommy and Oliver.

Silly kid.

Chasing Oliver.

Goofball.

Grandpa pointed out some cool birdy tracks.

Traveling the lifeguard tracks.

Hmmm...what is Grandpa writing?

Cool beans!

Birdies.

Oliver had fun with the birds.  (Mommy likes birds,
preferably a bird of prey.)  Even though seagulls are fun too!

Silly expression face sand runner.

Digging holes.

Beautiful.  (Sunset.)

Getting our feet wet.

Oliver made a sand angel.

At Nortes.  Oliver wanted Mommy to take a picture of
the lizard on the wall.  Mommy is too lazy to turn the
picture around.  Oh well.

Happy Hour Rose Bowl Game pink lemonade.
(Yay, for the Ducks! Right?)  Mommy isn't
a big sports fan, but she liked looking at the ducky
doing push ups on the field.
Thanks Grandpa for going with us!
