Race and Mystery

We had a wonderful Saturday!

Our first 5k of the year, the Resolution Run:

Long walk from the car.

Totally worth it.  The weather was beautiful.

Mommy's camera passes the test.  It takes good
pictures of signs.

And faces.  She can't wait to properly test it out
on all the cousins.  (She feels like she gipped
Shane a little the first year of his life because
she didn't have a good camera.)

Playing before the race!

Start line!

Excited!

Oliver had a rough start because he was thirsty.
Mommy had to remind him to be positive.

It eventually worked and he felt better.

He went ahead on his own when Mommy ran
backwards to get him more water.  He actually
made it pretty far without her.

Mud in some areas because of all the rain!

Go, go, go!

Water.

Medals.

Resting after the race.

He liked this sample.  We get this at home sometimes.
Mommy has a bunch of coupons if anyone wants to
try some!

Results!  Oliver was 1st in his age group!

His face when Mommy told him he was first!

He was very proud!

The announcer called his name!

Oliver knew exactly what to do!

Posing for the cameras!

Proud!

Yay Oliver!

Run in the winter!

Mystery.....

After we jumped for 2 hours as his reward for
finding a mystery house during popcorn season
for cub scouts!

He was tired!

But happy to jump with this kid, Grady!

In room 4 there was something special for the boys...

Trekking poles!

He rock climbed...

Didn't make it all the way to the top, but he tried!

They liked playing jump with Eric too!

Mommy liked jumping with them too!

We came home and set out our medals.  Oliver
is still thinking about his resolution.  Mommy has
been working on hers since Christmas break!

We have a lot more races together this year.
Now that Oliver is old enough and able
to run with Mommy he will do more races!
Its fun setting new goals for running races!

Home

Oliver is home after TWO days out of school because of a power outage.  Crazy!  He sure had fun playing and doing stuff with his Daddy.  Mommy wonders if he'll have to make these days up in the summer!?
We ventured out to Wal-Mart tonite.  Not so much fun in Escondido, but it was necessary.  We needed to get our new camera, we have a big day tomorrow!

Eating blackberries and telling Mommy something silly.

Mommy got a little nicer camera this time and of
course the insurance.  It is totally worth it.  She is
hoping this camera takes better quality pictures.
She thinks she has a good eye for some things (do you think so?),
but she hasn't had a very good camera for awhile.

We are looking forward to this weekend!

Donut Wednesday

It was a rainy Donut Wednesday.

The tarps are working nicely.  The rain sounds pretty
when it hits them.

We got our donuts at Major Market.
Petersons next week!

Waiting for us.

Masterpiece.

Mommy's tea.  (A little blurry, its how Mommy
saw things today.)  She got dizzy a lot today for some reason.

We are really liking sitting at our table together
and not being rushed.  This is a good new routine!

Oliver is off with his Daddy.  School is closed for Oliver tomorrow because the power source at his school got wet with all the rain and shut off power.  It couldn't be fixed by 8:00 pm so they had to cancel school.  Oliver is excited and Mommy hopes he stays safe, dry, and is productive tomorrow.  She misses him.

Tuesday

We had a really good Tuesday.  Oliver finished his homework reading at the Boys and Girls Club so we could go to yoga together.

First we sat at the table where rich people sit
and went through his folder.  He has been
working hard on an ancestor report and reading
this break!

Look!  He loves history!  Wonder where he gets that from!?

Yoga started out nice, then he got too tired.
It was nice being together though.

(Goodnight and sweet dreams of the extra tarps the roofers put on our roof keeping the rain away.)

Back to School

Mommy went back to school today, Oliver goes back tomorrow.  Oliver spent the morning with Grammie, Claire, and Shane.  Then he came to Mommy's classroom after lunch recess.  He always asks to meet Mommy's class and they ask to meet him.  Today was his chance!  He was respectful, had fun sharing his tarantula that Mommy's students asked him to bring, and even went out to afternoon recess with some students.  Fun!  (Just a little exhausting for Mommy.)

Mommy put him to work during Writer's Workshop
with her 3rd graders from another class.  She teaches
word study and writing to all three 3rd grade classes.

We had to stop back by to get some stuff from Grammie.
Sweet Claire gave Mommy the nicest greeting, Oliver
didn't want to talk with Claire.  It makes her sad and confuses
her.  Why does Oliver act like that?

Oliver had an appointment.  This appointment helps
Mommy figure out questions like the one she just
asked and Mommy gets to rest a little while
Oliver talks and has fun.

Back to normal routine tomorrow!  (Goodnight and sweet dreams.)

Faces

Mommy picked up Oliver this afternoon and she made a sad face as she pulled up the driveway to his Daddy's house.

This mountain lion was in the back of
his warden truck.

The lion was on a road near Ramona and very injured....(sigh).
Sad to see, but important to document.  It is
not often people get to see these elusive cats.

We went to see Mommy's cousin Chris and his family.  Mommy took a picture of each little persons face with her phone.  (Her camera is in transit to the Wal-Mart warranty center.)

Special Faces:

Happy face.  Shane.

Adorable face.  Caden.

Playful face.  Oliver.

Driving face.  Waylon.

Enthusiastic face.  Rachel.

Briel, she wouldn't look at the camera...

Sweet face.  Briel.

Busy face.  Claire.

Mommy is glad that Oliver's face is home.
